Perhaps this is a timely opportunity to examine how effectively our organisational systems and culture support the Universal Declaration’s aims, and the ten principles of the closely related UN Global Compact.
Today many leading global companies have signed up to the Global Compact. Have you? Do your management systems, culture and leadership support and promote the ten principles? And can you be confident that you are not inadvertently creating ethical and reputational risk, for example, through a supply chain that you do not have sufficient transparency and oversight over?
Despite the straightforward goals of the ten principles, maintaining day-to-day compliance in a globalised, outsourced business is a serious undertaking.
